WHAT TO DO ABOUT A LOOSE TOOTH THAT DOESN’T FALL OUT?

It is quite common for your child to have a loose tooth that isn’t falling out. The urge to just pull it out is also common. However, dentists do not recommend this. Any way of removing the tooth, such as tying a thread and pulling it out, is not advised.

Here is why you shouldn’t:

The method does not ensure a sterile environment.
It is painful and can cause excessive bleeding.
The tooth is not falling out because it is not ready to fall.

The process of baby teeth being exchanged for adult teeth is quite simple. It involves the following steps:

When the adult tooth is completely developed, it absorbs the roots of the baby teeth and pushes the tooth upwards.
After sometime the entire baby tooth is absorbed and loosens up.
The tooth is pushed upwards until only the gums are holding it in place.
This is when the tooth is ready to fall.

If the tooth still doesn’t fall, here are the acceptable tricks:

Have your child eat an apply
Brush the tooth to increase its mobility
