Cosmetic Smile Design at VGDC.

A patient came few weeks back for her cosmetic smile design at VGDC. And she was very happy with her dental treatment.

Case Report For Cosmetic Smile Design (Cosmetic Dentistry)

A 25 years old female patient visited our clinic with a complain of how her upper anterior (upper front) teeth looked when she smiles or talks.
She complained of spaces between her teeth and wanted to get it corrected.
Complete dental history was taken by our doctor along with all diagnostic procedures that were necessary.
On clinical examination our doctor found that the patient had a missing right lateral incisor. And more than normal spacing was present between anterior teeth/front teeth.
After all the diagnostic procedure by our doctor, we explained the procedure to the patient with all the details of the treatment. At VGDC we have made the doctor-patient communication an integral part of our practice.
We explained the treatment plan to our patient with all the possibilities. All the care she must take after treatment. We always allow our patient the window to solve any doubts that they might have. And only after the patients are completely satisfied, we start the treatment.
Patient wanted her treatment to be done soon, as she was about to leave the city within a week or two. We made it our priority to gave the best and quick treatment to our patient and give her the smile that she desired of.
The same day we began her treatment. First checking all the teeth to be prepared. Patient wanted ceramic teeth bridge for her treatment. Ideally, as it is an aesthetic zone, zirconia crown should be preferred. Zirconia crown are highly aesthetic and great strength wise as well. But Ceramic teeth bridges are also strong and are similar to tooth colour.
As it was a “Canine to Canine” preparation, which comes under aesthetic zone, we had to preserve as much as natural tooth structure as possible and then place the ceramic bridge with proper measurements. In order to provide proper retention to the tooth bridge we did preserved good amount of natural tooth structure. It was not over prepared nor under prepared, just the perfect measurement as we wanted.
We began with tooth preparation on the same day, as there was no presence of any caries and all the teeth were in good condition. A step by step tooth preparation procedure was started.
After the tooth preparation was done, we selected the tooth shade that best matched with the patients remaining teeth and her skin colour. With the VITA TOOTH SHADE GUIDE.
After the shade selection was done, we further moved to another step which was taking full arch impression. For full mouth impression we used polyvinyl siloxane impression material.
Bite impression was taken with bite registration wax.
We sent the impression to dental lab along with occlusal registration and all the underlying details that same day only.
In laboratory, stone models were prepared for appropriate ceramic preparation measurements. Laboratory technician gave us a trial bridge before the final tooth bridge.
We called the patient next day for trial of the ceramic teeth bridge before the final cementation was to be done. And the patient was convinced with her trial bridge.
We had a temporary bridge prepared for the patient because the final bridge would take few days more. As it was the anterior region, we didn’t wanted patient to have any aesthetics compromised.
After 2-3 days we called patient for the final cementation of her ceramic bridge in the upper anterior region.
